My son wanted this go kart more than anything in the world. He got it for Christmas, and it was very cold outside even for south Louisiana. He rode it an hour on Christmas with no trouble other than freezing hands. He put a total of 10 hours on the machine during his Christmas vacation. My husband carefully followed the maintainance manual for changing the oil on time as the instructions stated. My little boy went out for a ride in mid January, and he called my husband a half hour later saying he was broke down. That was when the go-kart nightmare began. Even though we have our own mechanic for our boat business, we had to let an "authorized service tech" work on the machine since it was under warrantee. It took two weeks for them to come get the machine (its too big to fit in back of a full-sized pick-up truck to bring it anywhere.) The first thing the repair place told us was that my son put over a hundred hours on the go cart when we know it was no more than 10 or 11. The hour counter gauge is actually attached to the key switch and counts how long the key is on rather than how long the motor runs. If the emergency kill switch is used to shut down the craft, the hours continiue to tick away until someone notices the key is on. This dealer has had my son's go cart for over three months now, and they have yet to determine what is wrong with it other than the moter is tore up and it needs new parts. They claim American Sportworks (the manufacturer) is the hold up because they are real picky about what they cover on their warantees.
I chose to purchase this go cart since it was made in America over purchasing an import. What a huge mistake!! American Sportworks is a terrible company. This is the worst item I have bought in my 51 years! I have owned this thing for five months and had it in my possesion for only two. My son cries every day that he wants his go cart and no one at the service place or American Sportworks cares at all. I don't know if we'll ever get this thing back, and if we do I seriously doubt it will work for long before it breaks down again.
Save yourself months of misery. Don't buy from this manufacturer!!!

Offering all the sophistication of a high-performance ATV in a compact package, the Quantum full-suspension go-kart is a great ride for people ages 12 and older. The Quantum is outfitted with such features as a dual-wheel, automatic torque-converter drive that's perfect for hills, grass, mud, sand, and other tough terrain, along with a 150cc, 9.9-horsepower, air-cooled engine with an electric starter. As a result, the Quantum not only holds up to heavy use and runs quietly, but it also zips around at up to 39 miles per hour--fast enough for all but the most reckless dune and trail riders (if that's too fast for your taste, a 20-mile-per-hour speed reduction kit is available). The Quantum is also built for safety, with four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes that stop quickly and three-point lap/shoulder belts to protect the passengers. And thanks to the rack-and-pinion steering and independent front and semi-independent rear suspension, the Quantum is extremely responsive and smooth.
Other features include adjustable bucket seats designed for style and comfort, aggressive 19-inch front and 21-inch rear tires for maximum traction, four adjustable coil-over hydraulic shocks for performance and versatility, a reverse gearbox for convenience, and such standard equipment as a rear rack, flag, enclosed drive train, side splash guards, fenders, lights, and a speedometer. The Quantum, which measures 34 to 39 inches from the seat back to the pedals, carries a one-year warranty on the engine.
