Razor Wild Style Kick Scooter Review

The Razor Graffiti scooter is almost the same as the A model (which at 1st I thought was the best Razor product ever) but is even better. Although this isnt mentioned in the product description, it has a shock-free spring underneath meaning it easily can do huge jumps without snaping the deck or hurting your wrists. The foam handle grips are 2 times as thick as the A model so the foam doesnt rip off. The deck sports full grip tape which I thought was no different then the A models partial grip tape but full grip tape is way better it doesnt slide away from your feet so you can do better tricks and you wont slide off while riding in the rain or when the ground is wet, which is a big problem on the A model. Lastly the design is awesome, you have to see it in person. you'll have the best scooter on the block!!!!

Based on the original Razor A kick scooter, the limited-edition Razor Graffiti kick scooter adds fun and exciting graffiti graphics to the frame and deck, making it ideal for everyone hip city dwellers, celebrities, businessmen, kids, and more. The Razor kick scooter was one of the most talked-about, in-demand, and best-selling items of 2000, winning the prestigious Toy of the Year award from the Toy Industry Association. Its T-tube and deck, meanwhile, fold up into a compact footprint, so riders can fit the scooter inside a bag or carry it at their side when riding isn't appropriate (it weighs around 6 pounds). And thanks to the 98mm inline-style urethane wheels (with new 14-spoke hubs), ABEC-5 bearings, and patented rear fender brake, riders will always feel smooth and in control when kicking along the sidewalk. Bought this scooter for our 5 yr old to work on balance and coordination. He loved it and figured it out almost immediately. The big wheels are great for not getting caught up on cracks, small stones or small sticks like small wheeled scooters can do. Platform is nice and wide for comfortable riding. Adjustable handle fits our 3 yr old too who wants to also learn. Folds easily for storage or travel.

Razor A5 Lux Scooter Review

Razor A5 Lux Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought my A5 Lux in early December, 2008. Even in Denver in the winter months, there are many days suitable for scooting, and I've put about 100 miles on my A5 since then.
Bottom line: I like my A5 very much, I'm glad I bought it, and I would make the same choice again. I would choose it over a Xootr or a Know-Ped. (Amazon sells both of these, too. I encourage you to check them out.)

Before buying the A5, I used one of the early Razor models (bought in year 2000) with 98 mm diameter inline skate wheels. I don't know the model designation. I'm not even sure they had model designations back then.
Contrary to what has been said by a previous reviewer, I see no decline in quality between my year 2000 Razor and the A5. I am a civil engineer, and have been repairing and maintaining my own bicycles, motorcycles and cars for about 40 years, so I think have a pretty good understanding of machines. My A5 looks to me to be very well made. Everything operates smoothly, and the machining, fit and finish seem to be flawless. I think the quality of workmanship and materials is very good.
As an example of the quality of the A5 compared to the older Razors, I uploaded a photo of the attachment of the folding mechanism to the platform. The A5 has a continuous weld along the entire length of the joint. My old Razor had only a short weld at the front and another short weld at the rear. Obviously, the continuous weld is stronger. I would call that an improvement in quality.
I'm 5'11" and 165 lb. I use the A5 for commuting and just for fun. When I commute, I carry a backpack that typically weighs around 15 lb; so the total weight on the scooter is around 180 lb. The rated capacity is 220 lb, and the A5 feels very sturdy carrying me and my backpack. I think the 220 lb rated capacity is realistic and probably even conservative, though I wouldn't recommend exceeding it.
The A5 with it's 200 mm diameter wheels is night-and-day different from my old Razor. The A5 is much easier to push, and coasts farther when pushing, and faster down hills. The larger wheels are also much less likely to get caught or thrown by debris on the pavement, uneven pavement, or large cracks. That said, it can still happen. Obviously there is a limit to what any scooter can handle, and the skill of the rider is also a factor. The rider must use good judgment. I'm just saying that, all else being equal, the A5 handles adverse conditions much better than scooters with inline skate wheels. I feel much safer on my A5, and wouldn't go back to my old Razor for anything.
The A5 wheels and bearings have very low rolling resistance. The tires are solid urethane and very firm. This accounts for the low rolling resistance and high-performance, but also gives a harsh ride; possibly a little harsher than my old Razor. As anyone familiar with high-performance road bicycles knows, it's a trade-off: you can have high performance or a soft ride, but not both. Xootrs, which have similar urethane tires, are also reported to give a harsh ride. If you want a gentler ride, get a Know-Ped.
The handlebar height is fine for me. The maximum height above the platform is 36.5", measured to the top side of the grips. The quick release adjustment allows you to set a lower height if you wish. The minimum height would be 27.5".
The deck width is 4.5". You can't put both feet completely on it side-by-side. For some people that would be important for alternating between legs for pushing. To minimize fatigue, you need to be able to alternate which leg does the pushing and which is the standing leg from time to time. (Surprisingly, it's the standing leg that gets tired: all those up and down motions.) The platform on a Xootr MG or Know-Ped is wide enough to put both feet completely on the platform side-by-side, which makes it easy to switch legs.
With the A5, you can just stop to switch legs (easy, but not very efficient), or develop a technique to do it while moving. I have a couple of such techniques. One is to plant the foot of my pushing leg on the ground, step forward off the deck with the foot of the standing leg, then pick up the foot of the former pushing leg and put it on the deck. This is good for slow to moderate speeds only. I use this a lot when I'm going uphill. This technique requires coordination and practice; and if you miss, you may get hurt. If you don't feel comfortable with it, don't use it.
The other method sounds complicated, but it's much easier to perform than to describe. I do this when I'm moving too fast for the first technique. I put my weight on the ball of the foot that's on the deck, and pivot the heel of that foot outward just past the edge of the deck. That opens a space on the back part of the deck. Then I put the heel of the other foot on the deck in the space behind the first foot. The toe of the back foot is pointed outward and extends just beyond the edge of the deck. I shift my weight to the heel that is on the deck and move the front foot completely off the deck. The maneuver is completed by pivoting on the heel that is on the deck to bring the toe of that foot onto the deck.
Although you can't put both feet *completely* on the A5 deck, I am able to get both feet on it enough to feel comfortable when coasting. I uploaded a photo to show what I mean. I get about half of each foot on the platform, which feels surprisingly secure. You wouldn't want your feet hanging off the platform like that if you're pushing the scooter, but it helps you stay comfortable on long downhill glides.
The top of the platform is 2.5" above the pavement. A low platform height is desirable for pushing efficiency. The lower the platform, the less you have to bend your standing leg to push. Remember: it's the standing leg that gets tired. The platform height on Know-Ped is reported to be 3.5" (specs on NYCeWheels web site; I don't think Amazon takes kindly to people including links to other web sites, but Google will find them). I think I read somewhere that on a Xootr MG it's 2.5", but I am not able to find the documentation to back that up now.
The platform itself is very thin, but it is strengthened by two thin metal ribs on the underneath side. (I uploaded a photo of these.) The ribs protrude about 0.9" from the platform, leaving a ground clearance of 1.6", exactly the same as my old Razor with the inline skate wheels. This is adequate most of the time. If you encounter a situation that needs more than 1.6" of ground clearance, chances are you should just plant your pushing foot and "step" (lift) the scooter over the obstacle. You lift the scooter and your foot in contact with the platform together, and just step it over the obstacle. It hardly slows you down at all.
One of my few negative comments about the A5 is the length of "footroom" on the platform. This is the length of the platform available to actually put your foot, between the connection to the steering tube in front, and the rear wheel. It measures 13", and I find it barely adequate. I uploaded a photo of my shoe on the platform. There is very little room to spare at the front and rear of my foot. This means that when I switch feet on the platform while in motion, I have to be pretty accurate about where my foot lands on the platform. It's a bit of a challenge, since I don't look at my feet while I'm making the switch. I wish they had made it an inch or two longer.
Another negative comment I have concerns the brake. Like my old Razor, the A5 has only a rear fender-stomp brake. You step on the rear fender, which presses against the rear wheel and slows the scooter down. The braking on the A5 is pretty poor. It is less effective than the brake on the old Razor. I'm not sure why, but I suspect it has to do with the material the tires are made of. With the A5, if I'm traveling fast, I have to start slowing down for a stop quite a bit sooner than I did with my old Razor. At low to moderate speeds, the brake is adequate. Overall, it works; you just have to get used to how long it takes to stop and allow adequate distance. Xootrs and Know-Peds have a hand-operated brake that acts on the front wheel; the A5 has no front brake. I haven't ridden a Xootr or Know-Ped, but no doubt their braking is much better.
It was because of these negatives that I gave...Read more›

Razor Lil' Kick Scooter Review

My 2 1/2 year old little girl got one of these for Christmas. She is off like a rocket, which she loves. She gets tired quickly, but as she gets better at it and gets older it will be perfect. Her 4 1/2 year old brother has a more advanced model but she does fairly well at keeping up. The rubber wheels make this a nice, quiet ride so we don't disturb the neighbors at 8am on a Saturday morning when we set off to the playground... Seems good quality and very stable. I still would recommend a helmet be worn though just in case.
Addition to the above: I initially rated this scooter higher but after months of having it, my daughter can't ride it well. The double wheels are at the back and she keeps hitting them with her foot. The more expensive Kick scooter that we bought for my son is preferable to this one. It has the double wheels at the front and seems more stable when in motion.

Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter Review

Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Two weeks ago we got Razor A Kick scooters for my 6 year old daughter and four year old son. Needless to say my two year old son wanted to keep up with the older kids and this scooter is perfect. Overall it is smaller than the Razor A, but has a wider sturdier base. Granted it does not go fast, nor does it have the maneuverability of the older kids' scooters, but my son is happy. He wanted his very own scooter and now he has it. There is no need for him to go fast or attempt to do any tricks. While the older kids are whizzing down the block he is right next to me putzing around, happy as can be. Also, my four year old will occasionally get off of his Razor A and get on the kiddie scooter. He can maneuver the kiddie scooter fine but doesn't ride it for very long because it lacks speed and he has to constantly keep pushing off with his foot.
Bottom line- It's a great scooter for 2-3 year olds. If your child is 4 or older, and remotely coordinated, get the Razor A Kick Scooter, they will like the speed and maneuverability way better.

Razor A2 Kick Scooter Review

Razor A2 Kick Scooter

Scooter is sturdy, well made and looks great! It glides smoothly and handles nicely. Low to the ground with nice handle bars and grips. I bought this for my grand daughters three years ago and
they had never ridden anything but little kid toys. Each easily learned to handle and ride with very few mishaps. I think it is pretty safe for a ride-on type toy. (we bought helmets and thankfully have never had any bad landings). Now three years later I am still watching them ride working up a good healthy
sweat and loving it!! So, I just purchased scooter number 4 for
one of the girls who has practically worn the wheels off (I hope
I can talk her into the replacement of her favorite toy). She is nine now, the age where girls need outdoor exercise and fun.
WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!A GOOD CHOICE FOR KIDS MOVING UP TO BIG KID TOYS.

The original kick scooter just got a whole lot better, making it even more fun for kids and teens alike. Though it'll never replace the internal combustion engine, the Razor A2 will get your child from point A to point B much quicker than on foot alone, and requires just a few scoots of one's shoes in the process. Plus, it's a blast to use, as your progeny will likely attest.
The Razor A2 is built of aircraft-grade aluminum, a sturdy material that holds up to use and abuse through the years. Razor combined the traditional aluminum construction, however, with a number of recent innovations, including a springless shock system that makes bumpy pavement feel smoother than ever and an all-new wheelie bar that guarantees an extra dollop of fun. Add in the foldable T-tube and deck, which tuck together to create a compact footprint (ideal for carrying when riding isn't appropriate), and you have a great kick scooter for virtually any situation. Other details include an enhanced finger guard, 98 mm inline-style wheels, and a patented rear fender brake for quick stops.
This version of the Razor A2, which weighs around 6 pounds and supports up to 143 pounds, and is recommended for ages 5 and older. It's also backed by a six-month warranty. For the next step up, try the Razor A3 Scooter.

My son started kindergarten this year, half a mile away from our home. He didn't enjoy walking the distance, but the scooter solved the problem. He just LOVES scooting around the streets, and mastered the technique within a week. Now getting home is fun. The scooter moves and works great. All of the kids in NYC have them - I've even heard of a kid who mastered the skill at age 2. I was really confused when I was shopping for a scooter...I wasn't sure from reading the ads, whether this scooter was actually appropriate for a 4 year old. It's been fine. I highly recommend this scooter for kids who want to get around quickly.

Playskool Glide to Ride Bike Girl Review

Playskool Glide to Ride Bike Girl
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was the only glider/pedal combination bike I could find that was set up to work this way. I didn't want to get training wheels for my 4 year old because I find them unstable. This way she can learn to balance and then go straight to pedals. Another benefit is that she can push it around in the backyard on the grass, which she wouldn't be able to do with training wheels. She loves it and I think we will add the pedals before the end of this summer. One issue-the white plastic cover on the gears scrapes against the rear wheel, slowing it down and scratching the plastic wheel cover. I even took it to a bike store to see if they could take it apart and put it back together better than I did, but not much luck. It seems to be a design flaw of the bicycle. If I had known this I may have opted to buy a regular bike and just have a bike shop take the pedals and gears off until she had her balance. A glider can be made with any bike just by doing that. So unless they fix this design flaw I would buy a different bike instead and just turn it into a glider for a while. Probably more difficult to detach and attach, but the construction of this casing around the gears just doesn't fit correctly.

Learning to ride a bicycle can be challenging for both kids and parents. The Glide to Ride bike provides children with a better way to learn by teaching them balance first ? the most essential skill in learning how to ride a bike. The Glide to Ride bike features two modes and grows with the child.
Kids begin using it in 'glide' mode. In this mode, unlike traditional bicycles, the Glide to Ride bike does not have pedals or training wheels. In 'glide' mode, riders are closer to the ground and use their feet to push along, giving them more control and allowing them to build self confidence.
When they are ready to graduate to 'ride' mode, the bike easily converts with screw-on pedals. The Glide to Ride does not require assembly - the chain and gears are already on the bike in a protective housing. Just screw the pedals on and it's ready to ride! Comes complete with both hand brakes and pedal brakes (coaster brakes), adjustable handlebars, seat and spoke wheel covers.

I bought this as a christmas present for my 10 year old son...he absolutely loved it since day one. Two minor details is that the kick stand indeed keeps coming loose so we decided to take it off. Also the brakes are quite a pain to adjust so we took the front brakes off as well. It is pretty sturdy and has good looks, even the thief that stole it,loved it....apparently.

The locking handle for the parent to steer doe not lock and the trike is constantly heading off to one side. I will have to lift and move the trike back to the center of the road to continue on. It made for a miserable ride. The sun shade also does not stay up. The attachment holding the shade is very flimsy and the shade kept leaning to one side and so I ended up removing it because it looked stupid. My son is almost 4 and does love the bike because he has always been short and this is the only trike that his feet reach and he is able to peddle on his own. It is way overpriced though (maybe worth $50)!

The Original Big Wheel 16 Inch Review

The Original Big Wheel 16 Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! Only giving 1 Star because I cannot give ZERO stars.
The only thing this product has in common with the "Original" Big Wheel is the name and stickers (which Alpha International and Gamma 2 apparently bought, hoping to cash in on the nostalgia-market of my demographic).
By my count a full 20 of the 46 (43%) reviews on Target.com reported missing parts. This review makes 21 (& bumps the percentage to 45%). That is an unacceptable failure rate, and does not even account the negative reviews relating to the near-impossibility of actually putting the big wheel together.
We purchased this toy for our son for Christmas. Building it prior to Christmas, I discovered the big wheel was missing the axle. Thank you, Target, Alpha International, and Gamma 2 for leaving me to explain to my 2 1/2 year old that he could not have the one thing for which he actually asked, because "Santa goofed." When I was finally able to get a hold of someone who could take an order for a new part, I was shipped two rear wheels, not the axle needed. Another phone call resulted in the delivery of an EMPTY container, so poorly packaged that the axle slid out while in transit. Today I finally received the axle and again tried to build the gift (a full FOURTEEN days after Christmas). On my first attempt to insert the seat posts into the corresponding holes on the frame of the big wheel, the right post broke.
The "customer service" number in the instructions is a joke; all Big Wheel inquiries must be made via[...], which advises that there is a 5-7 lead time before they can / will respond. Target's corporate call center was less than helpful, giving the standard "so sorry to hear that" line without offering much in the way of resolution.
46 reviews and a 1.5 Star rating [....]... What is Target going to do to respond to this? Target... if you cannot do business with reputable partners who provide quality products, why should the public do business with you?

Little Tikes Ride and Relax Wagon Review

Little Tikes Ride and Relax Wagon
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The idea of this wagon is excellent, and my son loves to sit in it to be pulled around. However, there are many design flaws such as no predrill holes so the pieces would actually fit, the side attachments are not secured and actually came off during a trial run, the seat belt that does not quite reach the circumference of a child to be functional, and some screws were not long enough to be capped at the ends. Although we can fixed some flaws by drilling holes and buying longer screws and we entertained that thought after assembling it 3/4 way, but it just wasn't worth the effort for the money we paid. We returned the wagon partly assembled to show the manager of the retail store that it was not possible to assembled the wagon according to the manufacture's instructions.

Schwinn Mark II Bike Trailer (Red/Grey/Black) Review

Schwinn Mark II Bike Trailer (Red/Grey/Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
i did quite a bit of research online (comparing descriptions, reading reviews, etc.) and thought this would be the best bike trailer for our family. we decided to not go super cheap and couldn't afford a $500 trailer so this seemed like it would work.
PROS: the price, it was easy to assemble, it looked good, and would be easy for our daughter to see out of.
CONS: the seat was like a sling that didn't have much support so our daughter was slouched, there was only 2 layers of fabric between our child and the ground, and the cover attaches with a long thick line of velcro, so every time you want to get your child in or out, or get into the back compartment you have to rip open the cover, which was difficult to line up and cumbersome in general.
the cons out-weighed the pros so we returned this trailer, and found a burley d'lite for $100 more at a warehouse store that has a great padded seat, better harness and strap hooks, easy clips for opening and closing the cover, and a movable sun shade panel which gets more use than i would have expected

A children's bike trailer is great when you're on the move, but what happens once you arrive at the grocery store? With a normal trailer you'd just park it outside, but with the Schwinn Mark II, you can convert it to a handy stroller and bring your kids inside. The Mark II sports a lightweight aluminum chassis that provides space for up to two children, along with a zip-down weather shield that protects them from rain, wind, and other inclement weather. More importantly, the trailer is designed for quick, tool-free conversion, with a universal trailer coupler that attaches to any bike and a flip-out front wheel and handlebar for the stroller. It's easy to use, fun, and versatile. Other details include smooth-rolling, 20-inch wheels with a quick-release design for easy storage; a hideaway clear window; a dual harness system; outrigger wheel guards; and a screened canopy for ventilation. The Mark II measures 35 by 31 by 20 inches when folded, offers a maximum weight limit of 100 pounds, and is backed by a five-year warranty.

Mongoose Decoy Boy's Bike (18-Inch Wheels) Review

Mongoose Decoy Boy's Bike (18-Inch Wheels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We just received this bike today (delivered by fed ex)... the box was definiely beat up, but the bike was in perfect condition!! We are really happy with it! My son is going to love it for christmas!! He is 4 & 1/2 and about 45" tall, so he is kinda between sizes for bikes -20" is too big and 16" is too small- this is the perfect size for him!! We looked all over for an 18 inch bike and none of them were as cool as this one! I would recommend this bike to anyone with a kid who is in between the most common sizes, but if you don't really need an 18" bike I would just go to target or walmart and save some money just because this one is a little pricy. Hope this helps!!

Currie Technologies (Schwinn, Mongoose, GT, IZIP Scooters) 36 Volt 10 Ah Plug & Play Battery Pack Accessories Review

Currie Technologies (Schwinn, Mongoose, GT, IZIP Scooters) 36 Volt 10 Ah Plug and Play Battery Pack Accessories
Average Reviews:

I ordered this from Currie via Amazon on May 1. I was told it would ship within a week. It didn't actually ship until May 12, and only then possibly because I badgered Currie's customer service.
I think Currie is inefficient or understaffed. The young woman who was taking a previous order told me that after they work on the phone all day, in their "spare time" after the phone lines close down, they process the orders. (This was for a battery pack offer included in the original scooter package). That particular order might have taken 4-6 weeks.
