Mongoose Women's Estes Bicycle (Blue) Review

Mongoose Women's Estes Bicycle (Blue)
Average Reviews:

I bought this bike from KMart on super clearance. If I told you how much I paid, you'd never believe me. Point being, the price above is much too much for a discontinued bike. The seat was murder. I went biking and struggles to complete 9 miles. So glad I turned back when I did because I'm still in pain from Sunday and it's Tuesday. I highly recommend changing this seat. It feels like you're being branded like a cow to the bone...seriously. This bike is very sturdy. I weigh a lil over 200 lbs, but I love outdoor activities. This bike does lose a lil bit of efficiency on gravel, but the factory tires handle very well. I would recommend this to a beginner biker like me, but not someone learning to ride. This bike is not very lightweight and would not be "fall friendly."

Schwinn Network 7 Men's Hybrid Bike (700C Wheels) Review

Schwinn Network 7 Men's Hybrid Bike (700C Wheels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great hybrid bike. It's light and fast like a good road bike, and has great tires and gears for rougher terrain. It is a very dark green( the photo makes it look black). It was very easy to assemble, though Schwinn left out the quick release mech for the front tire. They did send it to me quickly though, once I called them up.
I had been riding mountain bikes all my life, so this hybrid was a change for me, and I 'm glad to say that I prefer the hybrid, it's much better for getting around in city areas. There are shocks in the fork and seat that make for a very comfortable ride. The slim body and tires make fast speeds possible without much effort. The rear rack is great for carrying books and bags, if you attach a sack or net. The handle grips are very comfortable, smooth with just enough grip, not too textured like some other bikes.
I use it to commute to work and on bike trails near a local river, where the nicely gripped tires come in handy.
Some useful additions I purchased were a Schwinn thrasher helmet; does the job and looks good for only $25, a bell xenon light set; very bright and gives a lot of light for night time riding, a Schwinn frame pump; great for inflating tires on the go and attaches to the frame, and an adjustable bell water cage; it can hold any size beverage.
I would definitely recommend this bike.
I plan to take some photos and upload them soon as there is only one picture so far.

Service at Amazon was excellent! Many of the problems that were described in previous posts made sense to me becasue I had the same issue. However, it was not until I read the instruction manual and realized that I improperly assembled the fork( shock) backwards on the bike which led to poor braking and the wheel ultra close to my legs. Since the adjustment no problems. Shifts great, brakes well. Brought it into a shop for final once over. May help for others.
Cheers

My son didn't get to ride this much as it was stolen from our (fenced and locked gate) yard less than a week after getting it. I guess it make someone jealous (they did not steal the other 2 bikes, which were also brand new).
But, I can tell you that my son did thoroughly enjoy his bike. It went together easily (mom put it together!) And while it was a step up in size for him, he felt it was a good bike for wheelies... your son will want to know that.
I will buy this bike again next paycheck. He liked it enough to want to have an exact replacement.

Currie Technologies iZIP Tricruiser Electric Tricycle (24-Inch Wheels) Review

Currie Technologies iZIP Tricruiser Electric Tricycle (24-Inch Wheels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this for a relative who is 70 years old and looking for way get around local streets without waiting hours for bus. Driving is not ideal as he hasn't driven for a while and parking is issue.
Assembling for me took 4 hours the first time, but will probably take me less than 1 hour doing it again. The wheels seem pre-adjusted where I can just snap on the frame without further alignment. This was my fear since my kids bikes require alignments that was painful. The rear mud guards needed some bending to make sure not hitting the wheels, but that's easy enough by hand. Screws weren't perfectly align with holes for installing the basket, but it wasn't too bad.
It also comes with a metallic red paint touch up, which becomes very important as scratches are inevitable with a one-person installation of this heavy/durable bike. The touch up paint totally made all scratches disappear.
I test rode this tricycle and had absolutely no problem. I just sit back and let it take me! It has good enough speed (probably 12 - 15mph based on 180lbs) on flat surface, and will get slower as you climb hills.
For some people, like my father in law who rode street bicycle good part of his life in Asia, this was a problem at beginning. This is because 1) it's a tricycle, and more importantly, 2) it's powered. Once he thinks like he's driving a car instead, it was all heaven for him! He gets nothing but praises and envies anytime he "drives" it down the street to to go local grocery stores and restaurants. He thinks he has the "Rolls Royce" with plenty of worshipers!
A note on the battery. Take it out and charge the minute you receive your package. It'll take a while to charge. Don't wait until you are ready to assemble, then find out you must wait many more hours after assembly in order to drive it!

My husband has installed these in every bike we own, as well as many friends' bikes. You see, our bikes NEVER get flats.... We pick up so many of those "sheep-head" or "goat-head" thorns it's just ridiculous, but, we simply pull them out and move on. So, everyone wants to know our secret! Slime liners are the big secret. I highly recommend these liners. They are light weight, inexpensive, reusable, and do their job.

Dora the Explorer Lights and Sounds Trike Review

Dora the Explorer Lights and Sounds Trike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Admittedly this trike is a lot of fun, however not in the way that I think it was intended. Instead of actually riding the trike all my daughter does is sit and push the buttons. She can sit for hours and just play with the buttons, however she doesn't go more than a few feet whenever she tries to ride the trike. At first I thought that it was because she was just too distracted by the buttons, but I later realized that it was because it was too difficult for her to push the pedals. I bought this for her when she was 2 and now she is almost 4 but she still just sits on the trike and pushes the buttons and she still can't push the pedals well enough for it to be fun for her. I think it has to do with the positioning of the pedals in relation to the seat, because she just can't seem to get her feet at the right angle to be able to cycle the pedals in a smooth consistent motion. At first I thought maybe she just wasn't coordinated enough to ride a trike, but she does just fine on the Radio Flyers and even her big girl bike with training wheels is easier for her than this product which said it was for younger kids. Though I have to hand it to Fisher Price, almost two years and this puppy is still going strong. And its not like we took great care of this trike. It has been primarily outside the whole time and seen record rains and snowfall and, albeit the stickers are a little faded, all the buttons still work just fine. If only the trike itself was fun and easier to ride, this would have been a great toy.

Huffy Toy Story Boys Bike, Blue/Green, 16-Inch Review

Huffy Toy Story Boys Bike, Blue/Green, 16-Inch

I bought this for my boy's 4th birthday. I chose it because he's a Toy Story fan and his older brother has the Huffy Spiderman 16 inch bike. The Spiderman bike has held up well after a year of use, so I trusted this one would as well. It arrived promptly, in good shape and I opened it up to begin assembly (which I dreaded). In typical guy fashion, I pulled out all the parts and decided to try putting it together without reading the instructions. Much to my surprise, I had it together and ready to ride in about 20 minutes! The only tool I used was an adjustable wrench. The tires were about 1/2 full, so I topped them off. The bike seems to be of good quality and I expect he will outgrow it before it breaks down. This was an upgrade from a smaller bike for him, so he says this one is really fast! He's spent about 3 hours on it so far with no issues. Low price, good quality, big smiles from a happy kid...can't beat it!

I bought this as a Christmas present hoping that Amazon.com would pull through and make a special holiday for my girlfriend's son. Amazon.com delivered in style and exceeded my expectations. However.... We waited till Christmas morning to open the box. The bike was in great shape except there was a seat post clamp missing and the crown nut for the handle bar yoke was damaged. It looked to be damage that was done when the bicycle was originally packed at the factory as exterior of the shipping box was in great shape. As per the instruction manual we contacted the customer services about the missing parts rather then Amazon. It took 3 tries to get them to ship us the correct parts as the manual was too generalized to provide an adequate description to the mechanically challenged support person on the phone. Had the manual been better written I'm sure that this would have not been an issue. I will say that the customer service folks were very courteous and did their best to get a resolution to our problem.
I gave this bike 4 stars as it is a great value for the money paid. Amazon.com service was great and support from the bicycle manufacture was good.

Assembly of the Bike: This bike comes mostly assembled. Minor assembly is required before the bike can be used.
About Mongoose In 1974, BMX Products, Inc., later to be known as Mongoose Bicycles, launched from a humble garage. The first of its kind, the BMX bicycle was named after bicycle motocross and was designed to fit the needs of the rough-and-tumble dirt-racing pastime that took its toll on wheels and bicycles. The heavy-duty, one-piece cast-aluminum Mongoose Motomag wheel was soon born, and it was the first competition-ready BMX bicycle available. Skip Hess, while in Australia pursuing his motor sports passion, came into contact with a strange and unusual cat-size animal--the mongoose. Known for its passive nature while unprovoked, yet vicious and aggressive enough to kill a threatening Cobra twice its size, the Mongoose impressed Hess, who quickly registered the Mongoose trademark for his new bicycle racing frame.
The Expert BMX bicycle model, which is still a cornerstone of the Mongoose BMX line today, was introduced in 1980. Shortly after, Mongoose captured the first ever ABA National #1 Cruiser Title. Previously known for the 20-inch bicycle, this title signaled the re-direction of Mongoose bicycles to larger-wheeled, adult-sized models. Several years later, Mongoose continues to dominate the cruiser racing circuit with six National No. 1 Cruiser titles, leading to the introduction of adult-sized Mongoose all-terrain bicycles (ATBs).
In 1992, Mongoose pioneered the full-suspension market with the introduction of the Amplifier. This design is still the most-copied suspension design in the market. Several year later, Mongoose launched the Newman adult bicycle frame, which is proven to be 15% stronger than any other bike frame in the market. The design, while functionally sound, also raised eyebrows because of its distinctive look.
In the next few years, Mongoose increased its marketing focus to dominate the bicycle industry, and more important, extend beyond it. The Mongoose brand marketing initiative makes more than 100 million impressions. Mongoose's brand awareness increased by over 130% in 1999 and solidifies the No. 2 market share position in units and dollars. Mongoose was acquired by Pacific Cycle, LLC, and continues to grow and prosper with more than 40 models of BMX, mountain, trail, freestyle, jumping, comfort, road, and cyclocross bikes.
Amazon.com Bicycle Buying Guide Finding the Right Bike To really enjoy cycling, it's important to find a bicycle that works for you. Here are some things to keep in mind when you're in the market for a new bike:
The Right Ride In general, bikes are broken down into three major categories:
Road and Racing Bikes--As a general rule, road and racing are built for speed and longer distances on paved surfaces. Thinner tires, lightweight 29-inch (700c) wheels and drop bars that allow for a more aerodynamic position are the norm. Most road bikes, regardless of price, offer many gears for tackling both hilly and flat terrain.
Mountain Bikes--With their larger tires, hill-friendly gearing and upright position, mountain bikes are very popular for all types of riding, both on pavement and off. Mountain bikes that are designed specifically for rugged trail use typically feature a suspension fork. Some may have rear suspension, as well. A quick change of the tires on any mountain bike--even one that you use regularly on trails--adds to its versatility and makes it a worthy street machine.
Comfort/Cruiser Bikes--For tooling around on bike paths, light trails, or for cruising a quiet beach-side lane, comfort/cruiser bikes are the ticket. With a super-relaxed riding position, padded seats, and limited or no gearing, these bikes are made for enjoying the scenery and having fun with the family.

The Right Price A bike's price boils down to three essentials: frame materials, bike weight, and component quality and durability.
Entry-level--You'll find a wide range of comfort and cruiser bikes in this category, as well as some lower-end mountain bikes and road bikes. Most will have steel frames and components that are designed to last for several years with frequent use.
Mid-range--Bikes in this range may feature a lighter aluminum frame with mid-range components that keep performing after miles of use. If you're looking for a quality bike that is relatively lightweight and will stand up to abuse, this is the "sweet spot." Most serious commuter and touring bikes fall into this category, as do mid-range mountain bikes with a decent front suspension.
High-end--Racers and serious enthusiasts who expect lightweight, high-performance components will want to stick to this category. For road bikes, exotic frame materials (carbon fiber, titanium) and ultra-lightweight components can add thousands to the price tag. Mountain bikes in this class often feature advanced front and rear suspension technology, as well as components designed to handle lots of rugged trail action.

The Right Size Fit is crucial for comfort, control, and proper power and endurance on a bike. Here are some basic bike fit tips:
Stand-over Height--To find out if a bike's overall height fits your body, measure your inseam. Next, determine how much clearance you'll need between your crotch and the top tube of the bike. For a mountain bike, you'll want three to five inches of clearance. A road bike should offer between one and two inches of clearance, while a commuter bike should have two to four inches. Compare the stand-over height for a given bike to your measurements (inseam + clearance) to determine the right bike height.
Top Tube Length--You can measure your torso to get a good estimate of proper top tube length. First, make a fist and extend your arm. Measure from the center of your fist to the end of your collarbone (the part that intersects your shoulder). Next, measure your torso by placing a book against your crotch with the spine facing up. Measure from the spine to the bottom of your throat (the spot between your collarbones). Finally, add the two measurements (arm length + torso length), divide the number in half and subtract six inches. This is your approximate top tube length. Compare this number to a bike's posted top tube length. You can allow for about two inches longer or shorter, as most bikes can be adjusted via stem length/height and saddle fore/aft position to make fine adjustments to the fit.
Bikes for Women--Proportionally, women tend to have a shorter torso and longer legs than men. Bike makers design women's bikes that offer a shorter top tube and many comfort/cruiser bikes built for women may also provide more stand-over clearance.

The Right Accessories When you make a bike purchase, don't forget these crucial add-ons:
Helmet (this is a must!)
Seat pack
Lock
Hydration pack, or water bottles and bottle cages
Spare tubes
Portable bike pump
Gloves

Bell 1000903 Boys Bike Helmet with Elbow and Knee Pads Value Pack ( BEN 10) Review

Bell 1000903 Boys Bike Helmet with Elbow and Knee Pads Value Pack ( BEN 10)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this product for an active seven year old boy who insisted on wearing "heelies" and seemed to always get twigs stuck in the wheels or stuck on cracks in pavement, etc. His knees were so badly scraped that he'd often fall and scrape the scrapes. He was a huge fan of BEN 10, so convincing him to wear the kneepads was not an issue when he saw they were BEN 10. Previously to that, he was anti-pads because he said they were uncool - and so were helmets! They are decent quality and will do in a pinch - certainly better than nothing. He says they fit well and he wears them often and his knees look great now! I'm sure there are better products out there, but they also cost more. I'd say these are worth the money and especially considering the health and safety of any child is more valuable than anything - it's a good investment.

Unless you are mechanically handy, do not buy a bike in a box. Also, the wrong pedals were sent in this box apparently they were 1/2" instead of 3/8" threads. I found this out when I went to pay $40 to have this bike assembled. We like the bike OK, but it cost quite a bit to have assembled and the pedals were wrong.

I got the 26" bike from a rewards card. It arrived well packaged with no scratches. Full instructions were provided and it was easy to assemble, taking about 45-60 minutes. I think the bike is sturdy and well built. I got it for my adult son, and I figured if he didn't like it or was dissatisfied, I would just sell it. So far, it's a keeper. I've read and found only negative reviews on this bike and felt compelled to add my 2 cents.

Torker Unistar CX Unicycle, 24", Chrome and in colors Review

Torker Unistar CX Unicycle, 24, Chrome and in colors
Average Reviews:

If you are inspired to ride, this is a good sturdy Uni for the price.
I think this is a great learning unicycle and fine for short commutes. If you want to ride for many miles you will probably want a larger wheel, like the Coker. This one has a comfortable seat and is pretty speedy. It's taken the abuse of my learning period quite well.
I am 5'4" and the 24 inch is a perfect size. I usually ride with the seat only one inch higher than the lowest setting. a 20 inch wheel is the 'free style' size, but i imagine I will be able to do tricks with the 24. It was only intimidating for the first few hours.

Okay, we have a new basement, that needed organizing, so I started with our bikes.
The box came quickly and I set it downstairs. No more than 10 minutes lapsed and my 7 year old son put the whole thing together. I put all the screws in and tightened them, but he did it himself and without the instructions! No kidding! Our bikes are all in order now and I smiled when I look at the rack! Have fun!
