It is a fun new idea on an old favorite, but is it worth the extra price? My kids do love it. I bought two, one for my 6 year old daughter and one for my 5 year old son (different colors of course). They can use it as a regular scooter and push along with their foot, or use the kick bar, which can be a little awkward at first. I should tell you that it does not roll backwards because of the gears and is a little heavier than a regular scooter. My kids don't seem to have any problems with it and just pivot off the back wheel when they want to flip around. It is well made, very sturdy (I did try it). I found when I kicked the bar I didn't have great balance but that got better with practice. As for speed, I think it's the same whether you kick or push. I think regular scooters go a little faster because they are lighter. It has a kick stand so you can stand it up, but I found it to be a unreliable unless it is a very flat surface. Over all I think it was worth the extra cost. It is nice to have the choice of propulsion and I think my kids would have been disappointed with anything else. They were very specific as to which one they wanted for Christmas because it looks cool and is just a little bit different.

Designed for kids ages 5 and older, the Pulse Kick 'N Go Nitrous uses a unique chain driven kick lever propulsion system that allows your child to accelerate and maintain speed without ever touching foot-to-ground. A lower center of gravity offers maximum control, and narrowed handlebars improve stability. Its dual-density grips are designed to fit smaller hands, while the rear guard keeps fingers away from moving parts.
Beginning riders can hop on and execute tight turns while maintaining a balanced stance on the deck. The new frame design is lighter but just as strong, and the friction braking system maximizes stopping power. The scooter's powered via the single-action, dual sided, T-bar propulsion pedal at the back of the deck. After kicking it to power your ride, the T-bar comes back to its normal position within a few seconds for another propulsive kick. It's completed by BSB ABEC 7 precision speed bearings and 92A urethane street racing wheels with reinforced nylon hubs. It's quick and easy to assemble, and all necessary tools are included.
