Performance is exactly where I wanted it to be for a beginning skater - very much more controllable than roller blades. I did have to call the manufacturer before ordering though to clear up my sizing concerns. My daughter's shoe size was a 12 when I ordered and initially I didn't see anything smaller than a 1. Others complained of the big first size. If you scroll down the sizes you will see the smaller sizes at the bottom. I believe there is a J12 and J13. That would be junior 12 and 13. I got the 13 (a size bigger than shoe size) and it is a perfect fit - very easy to put on with just the right amount of room to grow. I highly recommend these skates!
