Gates has excellent quality control even if they make their belts in China. However, it is much better than the generic Chinese belt I bought on Ebay new and only got a few miles out of it before it literally decomposed into dust and fiber leaving me with a mess to clean up. Interestingly, that belt didn't even overheat. It just fell apart. I recommend Gates belts. If you are looking a step up get it with kevlar.
