M-Wave Mighty Adult 8 Led Pedal Review

M-Wave Mighty Adult 8 Led Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got these pedals and the LEDs worked great, however after only a month of normal daily use (bicycling 2 miles per day) one of the plastic pedals cracked and was no longer usable. I sent it back to amazon to be exchanged and they sent me a new set. Then after about 3 weeks one of the new pedals broke in exactly the same fashion! This time I sent them back for a refund. I am a 6ft male, and 185 lbs, so it shouldn't have put undo stress on the pedals and they should have been able to last longer. Great idea, but the pedals just need to be made stronger.

I got this helmet & pads set for my 8-year old daughter when she roller blades. She loves the way they look and the hot pink color. I like the protection they provide when she takes a tumble. I looked at many sets of helmet & elbow/knee pads before I bought anything and I think these are one of the best around. I am very satisfied with them and my daughter doesn't give me a hard time about wearing them.

Giro Atmos Racing Bike Helmet Review

Giro Atmos Racing Bike Helmet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In 20 years of road and mountain biking I've had 3 Giros, 2 Bell, and 1 Louis Garneau helmet. This is hands down my favorite. It's the lightest and breathes the best. Even on a recent ride in 94F / 65% humidity / Sunny, my head didn't feel hot. (well, hotter than the rest of me, it was a pretty brutal ride to be honest)
It's super light and very comfortable. You barely feel it on your head.
The reasons I knock it down to 4 stars:
1) Pads are quite sparse and in particular they don't cover the forehead very well. There's also a gap in the center. For me this means that sweat runs into my eyes - as it evaporates it's not sweat but concentrated salt water. Ouch! (Other helmets I've had with larger forehead pads delay this issue. There are head bands on the market for this exact issue, however)
2) The rear plastic head straps are covered in a rubber coating, which cracked within a month or two - doesn't affect the function or comfort as there is a stronger plastic material underneath, but a disappointment given the price.
3) On the underside there are 3 small areas where the foam is melted or looks like it was attacked by a solvent - surface defects really, and you never see it. Doesn't affect function or external appearance but at this price I guess I expect more.
My helmet was from 2008 when they still included a rigid carry pod. Apparently they don't make this anymore, which is a shame since it is a super nice feature - protect your helmet, carry your gloves, Gu and Powerbars too (It was well ventilated so things don't get stinky). - you can still get them on Ebay though...Specialized now makes one too but the Giro one looked nicer.
If you've found this review to be helpful, please let me know!

The Giro Atmos bike helmet continues to set the standard for high performance, matchless style, and comfortable fit. The Atmos offers such features as a proprietary in-mold design that provides the strength to support 26 cooling vents, a benchmark in-mold roll cage, and a low-profile silhouette. The vents are particularly comforting, as they work in tandem with an intricate network of internal channels to create a cooling system dubbed Wind Channel ventilation. The upshot? The Atmos is one of the coolest helmets around, making it a top choice for road, 'cross, and XC riders alike.
Ionos Technologies The Atmos employs a number of advanced Giro technologies. The Atmos' in-mold construction, for example, fuses the helmet's outer shell with the impact-absorbing EPS liner. Not only does this reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated. This culminates in the helmet's proprietary Wind Tunnel ventilation system, which combines active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head while forcing heat and stale air out. By definition, a channel is a route through which anything passes or progresses. In the case of Giro helmets, the internal channels are carefully crafted and are one of the keys to a well-ventilated helmet. This significant increase in air channeling makes a difference that riders will feel immediately.
Reinforcement and Fit The Atmos also includes a roll-cage reinforcement--a tough web of DuPont nylon molded inside the helmet's EPS foam liner. This reinforcement provides an extra measure of strength and integrity that you'll never even notice--unless you need it. Finally, the Atmos helmet is engineered using Super Fit technology, making it so comfortable that it virtually disappears when you put it on. The proprietary three-size Super Fit system is based on "human scale factors" data and nearly 20 years of crafting helmets for the best riders in the world. The result is a helmet that fits 98 percent of the world's population, yet looks and feels like it was made just for you.
The Atmos helmet weighs only 275 grams and complies with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's safety standards for bicycle helmets.
Helmet Tips You should always...
Wear a helmet when you ride
Wear your helmet low to protect your forehead
Fasten your buckle and tighten your chin strap
Check your adjustments every time you wear your helmet
Inspect your helmet regularly for signs of wear or damage
Wear a helmet designed for your activity

About Giro Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped him tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, resulting in the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking and better fitting than traditional designs yet still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world: young bloods and old-timers; hardcores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet. Giro is based in Scotts Valley, California.

I purchased this helmet on sale for $12.99 and it was a steal at that price. I use it for bike riding to avoid those ridiculous looking bike helmets. It serves its purpose very well. It also comes with additional foam liners in varying thicknesses so you can ensure a snug fit.

Planet Bike Blinky "3H" 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light with Self Leveling Helmet Mount Review

Planet Bike Blinky 3H 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light with Self Leveling Helmet Mount
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Blinky "3H" is great, but don't miss making a combo with the Planet Bike Sport Spot 4 LED Bicycle Light with Head, and Handlebar Mounts as a headlight to mount on your helmet. With the Sport Spot on the front, it's fantastic to be able to point a light at drivers just by looking at them. Since the Blinky "3H" swings, it sort of flashes randomly without using the flash mode. (I use a separate flashing taillight attached to my backpack.) These lights are very light weight. I hardly know I have them mounted on my helmet. Most people who see me with them on my helmet think they're great. These two should be sold as a combo since the headlight takes three batteries, and the rear light takes one, so you can easily recharge four NiMH batteries at a time. The only deficiency on the Sport Spot headlight is that it's tough to get the mounting angle right with the limited places to strap it onto your helmet, so you might have to glue a little wedge on it to adjust the angle.
Another great night safety product is the Planet Bike BRT Strap Multi-Use LED Bicycle Safety Light. Nearly the whole strap (7" x 13/16" of it) glows or blinks bright red when it's turned on -- it appears as a yellow reflective surface when it's off. It works great. It's lightweight, easy to use and comfortable, plus fits in my hip-pack nicely. I use it as a leg-light (above my left calf) for night biking or late afternoon inline skating. Having a light move as you pedal, and highlight the left edge of your bike provides a major safety advantage.
If you bike much at night, do yourself and your loved ones a favor and get all three, the BRT Strap, the Sport Spot, and Blinky "3H". I highly recommend all three of them.

I also strongly recommend a bright safety vest, jersey, or jacket for day and night biking. A good one can provide a dramatic reduction in scary incidents -- people turning in front of you or coming by too close. I try hard to always use one -- it makes an amazing difference -- people seem to have an automatic reflex to be much more cautious and wait for me to pass when they see my safety vest.

Giro Transfer Sport Bike Helmet Review

Giro Transfer Sport Bike Helmet
Average Reviews:

This is a very comfortable helmet with a nice fit. Most of the helmets you'll find in this price range don't fit well. Believe me, I've tried a number of them. But this one fits me great.
One small piece of advice: It has a more rounded appearance from the front than most bike helmets do. So if you don't like the thought of a "round" look when someone's looking at you straight on, this might not be the helmet for you.

The Giro Transfer Sport Bike Helmet is constructed with in-mold technology that fuses a tough outer microshell to the helmet's EPS foam liner. The fusion process reinforces areas around vents and ribs, making the helmet lighter, cooler and tougher. The Transfer utilizes Giro's Acu Dial system, which combines single-handed adjustment with a full-fit band for a quick, sure fit. This Giro helmet features a snap-fit visor, and 20 vents that allow cool, fresh air in and stale, warm air out.
The Transfer sport helmet comes in Giro's Universal Fit Adult U size (54-61cm), carefully sculpted and size-specific to simplify the fitting process. Giro's Transfer helmet is a lightweight 255 grams, and complies with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's safety standards for bicycle helmets.

Disney Princess Micro Bicycle Helmet and Protective Pad Value Pack (Child) Review

Disney Princess Micro Bicycle Helmet and Protective Pad Value Pack (Child)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our 4 year old received this for a birthday present. The helmet is ok, except that the adhesive pads inside came off the first wearing (and the adhesive got in her hair - what a mess!). The knee and elbow pads are too stiff to stay on her knees and elbows. And they are just a plastic bubble. The first time she fell, the plastic shattered on one of them and made it worthless and dangerous for further use.
The big sell point was that it was pink and had the Princesses on it. Why can't Disney make quality products? They sure charge enough!

Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror Review

Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This mirror is fantastic. I bought it to replace a helmet mounted mirror when the stem broke on the helmet mount. I can't tell you how much better I like this bar-end mirror. It's much easier to find this mirror out of the corner of my eye, and it provides a very good view of what's behind me, both in the traffic lanes and directly behind me in the bike lane.
I did have to mutilate the grip on my handlebar to remove the plug and cut out and opening for the mirror, so just trying it out requires some commitment, but once it is mounted the installation looks clean.
I didn't have any significant trouble with the installation. The directions are a little bit unclear about what to do with piece that goes inside the bar (the directions say to "secure" it, but you need to leave it loose, securing only the nut, until it is inside the bar). If you look at the piece and think about how it's going to hold the mirror in place, it's pretty obvious what to do with it.
The mirror itself stays put very well on rides. It shakes a very little bit, but really only little. The stability is surprisingly good for a piece for which it is so easy to adjust the angles.
All the parts can be replaced individually if broken for about $4 each plus shipping.
