My daughter wanted it because it had the princesses on it, but let's face it; the manufacturer could sell any piece of junk as long as it has a cute character on it. This has got to be the cheapest helmet and pad set I have ever seen. The pink plastic covering on the outside of the helmet actually peeled away from the styrofoam core, and like the other reviewer stated, the straps are all but impossible to adjust and use properly. I find it disturbing that a company like Disney would put their stamp of approval on such a cheap, poorly made product. And scarier still, this is a product that is supposed to provide our children a measure of protection when they are riding their bikes or other similar activities. Please, don't buy this. You will be better off spending a bit more money on a good quality helemt and pad set. It might not be as cutesy as the princess one, but your child will be safer.

(More customer reviews)My little princess was very excited to get this for her 5th birthday. I can not get it adjusted to fit well though. If I make it tight enough to stay on top of her head, I can't buckle it under her chin without it hurting. And if I loosen the buckle, it tilts towards the back. I think it might be because there is so much styrofoam padding that the straps don't come close enough to her head. I will be looking for a new helmet because I don't feel this one is safe.

Disney Princess Hardshell Bicycle Helmet and Protective Pad Value Pack (Child) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this helmet for my nearly 5 year old daughter a few days ago, as she had outgrown her toddler helmet. She picked this one out of all the princess designs they had (and they had a few).
The helmet is made of a plastic shell surrounding a 7/8" densely packed wall of Styrofoam. It is not typical packing material type Styrofoam which we can break off and peel into little balls of plastic. It is packed rock solid and would be uncomfortable if not for the fact that there are strips of a softer foam inside to cushion the child's head. The foam strips are secured by dots of Velcro hooks, so that they can be repositioned if necessary. There are no adjustments to be made for head size. If you need a helmet that has those adjustments, look elsewhere.
The straps are made of soft nylon. They are easily adjustable. They fit comfortably and are not stiffer than any other helmet we own.
The package does read "knee or elbow pads" and it only comes with one set of pads. We didn't buy this for the pads, since we have so many already; but someone buying this as a set be warned. My daughter has a full set of princess knee and elbow pads from her skate set, and the pads provided with the helmet are the size of those knee pads. Of course, there is nothing wrong with using them as elbow pads, just wanted to give an idea of the size of those pads.
My daughter has two helmets to choose from and she always chooses this one. It's a nice helmet.
UPDATE:
My daughter is 5 1/2 now and the helmet fits better now than it did just half a year ago. I do wish this helmet has adjustments for the head, but it only comes with the required chin straps. Other than that, this helmet works fine and looks great. My daughter still loves it.

Bell Toddler Boy's Bicycle Helmet, Knee Pads, and Elbow Pads Value Pack (Blue Hang 10) Review

(More customer reviews)My 3 year old son loves this helmet and pads set. It fits him well and is adjustable as he grows. The only issue that we have with it is that the adhesive on the pads inside extends to the sides, so his hair always got stuck to it and pulled when he took it off. We did end up replacing the pads with some we purchased from a local bike store. He thinks the surfer dog is funny and it's never an issue getting him to put it on when he wants to go skating. The elbow and knee pads are not as well made as the helmet and only the circle with the picture on it really offers any protection. Still, I haven't found a better set yet that he'll actually wear and I don't figure that he'll be all that aggressive with his gear just yet anyway. For a three year old, it serves its purpose well.

Razor Pro Pad Set - Choose Size Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the youth pro pad set (for ages 8 to 14) to accompany a ripstick my 10 year old son received for Christmas. Overall, the pads are great. They are sturdy and will protect your child when or if they fall.
However, my son is skinny, therefore, he swims in these pads. The elbow pads, if worn as elbow pads, cover his whole arm and they look extremely huge on his small body. Therefore, the elbow pads fit better as knee pads. The knee pads will also work for his knees, so I guess he got two sets of knee pads for Christmas.
I gave the pad set three stars because I feel they could have been more specific in the description of the product, however, they are very protective of my sons knees.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for Christmas for my 2-1/2 year old grandson, and while it is way too small to be useful, he does love everything Mickey and wears this constantly, even when not riding his bike.
PROS: Well constructed. Graphics are very colorful and eye catching.
CONS: Small! This sits on top of my grandson's head, alien-style and looks strange. It does not encase his head, it literally sits on top. I am not sure how much protection it would offer.
I think this would be more suited to an even younger child, maybe an 18-month-old on a tricycle?

The elbow and knee pads fit fine, but I have to get her a different set ASAP. It's a good thing I have a younger daughter to hand it down to in brand-new condition. It's cute, and seems to be well-made, so the 1-year-old will be able to use it for at least a year or so.
