(More customer reviews)This is a great buy for anybody. I saw my friend riding a wave board and he let me try it when I inquired what it was. It was a lot of fun and very addicting. He told me that if i bought one to get a waveboard because the waveboard was better that the ripstik because it had a smoother ride and it was better built. I went to Walmart and was looking at the wave boards and I saw the ripstick G. It looked a lot cooler so I bought it. To tell you the truth, this is the coolest board out there. I love this board and ride it everyday.

The only reason to buy this over a ripstick is if you are going to "grind", which is going on a rail. It is also better built and has a smoother ride than most other boards. If your going to buy it, buy it on Amazon. It's cheaper than anywhere else and it also gets you free shipping.

Razor RipStik Ripster Review

(More customer reviews)While trying to decide between the original Ripstick and the Wave for my 12 yr. old son, I found the "newer" Ripster. I read reviews of how these were lighter weight and you could do tricks more easily. Of course, that caught my attention and I'm glad I purchased this one. This has been one of his favorite and most used Christmas gifts. He was able to take off after the first few tries and was really good after a day or two. His older brother, 17, also picked it up quickly and uses it frequently. I recently heard a friend comment on how much lighter this was than the original Ripstick. I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase (although I see they are now cheaper than when I bought) and would highly recommend this.

(More customer reviews)I am 44 years old. I bike, I ski, I in-line skate. When I first saw a college student riding one of these, I asked him about it. He said "try it!" I almost did, but I didn't, for fear I would fall and die. I mean, only two wheels? And I didn't have my helmet with me.I finally broke down and bought one after seeing some cool videos on the internet. After putting on my helmet, and my knee and elbow pads and my wrist guards, I took it out into the parking lot today.The first ride is very scary, like riding a buttered block of ice, and lasts only about 1 second. After about five rides I'm up to five seconds and smiling my butt off.For the next half hour I can't stop smiling, even when I fall off (once). After this time, I'm able to make left turns, and I can even go uphill by doing a sort of manic twist to gain momentum. My longest ride is about 30 seconds.If you consider yourself coordinated, well-balanced, and reasonably athletic, I recommend this product to you, regardless of your age. It works perfectly, and presents a new athletic challenge that is well worth mastering. The independent steering of the front and back wheels adds a whole new dimension to the fun. The challenge of staying on the board will get you sweating without even realizing you are exercising.The Ripstik Caster Board is a revolutionary product, just as significant, I think, as the in-line skate. Buy one before you get too old for it.

RipStik DLX Caster Board Review

(More customer reviews)I've had the chance to try the "DLX" version as well as the Regular Ripstik version and there is a big difference in the way that they ride. The main difference is the tightness of the torsion bar on the DLX. It has a tighter spring so you're less likely to scrape the bottom of the Ripstik on turns. The tighter spring also puts less strain on your ankles because it springs back on its own a lot easier in stead of relying on ankle-strength. This makes the board a breeze to use.
Both are still about the same weight, the DLX version being SLIGHTLY lighter and thinner -- although you'll be hard-pressed to tell the difference.
The all-black version looks a lot slicker, less like a toy and more like a wicked, futuristic skateboard.
On Amazon there is a "Deluxe" DLX version, however, in my research I have found no difference between this version and the Regular DLX version, or the "Toys 'R' Us" DLX Version -- they're all the same.
The Ripster: The Ripstik Ripster versions are a different riding experience altogether because they take a different set of muscles to operate. Where the larger Ripstik version uses more hips, the smaller version uses more of your ankles and knees. The tighter turning radius of the smaller Ripster makes it more maneuverable in tight spaces (like around the house or garage, basement, etc.) but the larger version is better for cruising on the roads and sidewalks, and the cost of maneuverability. I'm not sure the difference between the Ripstik Ripster and the RR DLX, but there's a $30 difference, so it's probably lighter and tighter like the regular DLX.
Back to the DLX: The only con I can think of is that Razor made a huge improvement with the torsion bar in this version, and it's a shame that they charge you more for such a cheap-costing change that should be in the Regular version as well. Apparently they shaved off a little weight by using aluminum instead of steel but the difference is minimal. The other problem with this product is that it is really hard to find information about the differences in riding experiences without riding them (so far I'm the only one I know with such a review).
If you're looking to get a Ripstik (and I highly recommend you do -- they're really fun to ride), I would say save up an extra $30 and get the easier-to-control DLX version. You'll ride this thing for hours at a time, and the last thing you want is for your ankles to be really sore.
