(More customer reviews)I was bought a 5019LP recently, and was curious about how strong this chain really is - so I decided to test it for myself. I figured that it was worth losing a link of length to know if it's as strong as they claim. Yes, I'm an enginerd.
I took the 5019LP to a nearby hardware store and grabbed the largest bolt cutters I could find (a 36", $50 unit). I found a quiet aisle and put the final link (the regular link end, not the big link) in the jaws, braced one handle of the bolt cutters against the floor and then started whaling on the other handle. I threw all my weight against it, bounced up and down on the handle, tried some different positions on the chain and in the jaws, but the chain did not cut. There was only a minor indentation on the link (
