Bell Bellistic Bike Helmet Review

I ride both mountain bikes and Motorcycles; and learned the hard-way that there is a big difference in helmet sizing depending on the intended use. For Motorcycles I need a 'medium' helmet for my average sized adult head... a size large motorcycle helmet fits loosely on my skull and is therefor not as safe.
This is why I originally ordered a 'Medium' Bell Bellistic bike helmet; only to have it arrive and cause my ears to burn while trying to put it on and take it off for the first time. The good news is that the return was easy and I was credited all but the $6.70 return S&H. I re-ordered the same helmet in the next size bigger and it too is pretty darn tight (considering it's a 'Large' and I don't have a 'Large' head). I decided to keep it rather than return the same product AGAIN for the same reason.
My next disappointment was on my inaugaral ride: the mouth protecting area of the helmet smelled strongly of the synthetic chemicals used in the production process and as I huffed and puffed up a hill every inhalation was laced with off-gassing chem's; seriously detracting from the enjoyment of my ride. I've left it out in the sun and rain and wind for about a week so it's probably "good to go" by now. My advice: Order 1 to 2 sizes bigger than you think you need, and let it breathe before you hit the trails.
